Miele Dishwasher Installation in Hamilton and the GTA
Miele dishwashers are built differently from most North American units, and installers who treat them like any other 24 in. dishwasher run into trouble. They use a fixed-length Waterproof (WPS) inlet hose with a safety valve at the tap, they level with rear feet adjusted from the front, and many models, especially the fully integrated and panel-ready ones, come with tight cabinet and toe-kick requirements. Done right, a Miele runs for years almost silently. Done wrong, you get a door that hits the drawer next to it or a panel that doesn't line up.

What to have ready before we arrive
- The Miele model number, so we can check the specific installation diagram before arriving
- A shut-off valve within reach of Miele's inlet hose (it isn't meant to be extended), with an existing water supply at the space
- An existing drain connection under the sink and an existing electrical outlet or junction
- For integrated and panel models: the custom panel built to Miele's template, with handle holes already drilled
- The opening clear, with flooring and countertops finished
How we install it
- Check the template. Miele publishes exact opening sizes for each model. Fully integrated models often need a specific toe-kick height and depth. We confirm before we take the old unit out.
- Remove the old unit. Shut off, disconnect and remove it, with haul-away for $70.
- Route the WPS hose. The Waterproof System hose connects straight to the shut-off. We make sure it isn't kinked or stretched and that the safety valve housing sits where it can be seen and reached.
- Drain and power. The drain hose goes up into a high loop to the existing sink drain or disposal, and power goes to the existing outlet or junction.
- Level and secure. We adjust the rear feet from the front with the long adjuster, set the front feet, and secure the unit to the countertop or cabinet sides with the supplied brackets.
- Door spring and panel. On integrated and panel models we adjust the door springs to the panel weight so the door doesn't drop open or slam shut, then align the panel with the drawers around it.
- Test and walk-through. A test cycle with a leak check, plus how to set the water hardness and how to use AutoDos if your model has it.
Common problems we see
- Extending the WPS hose. It's a safety device. If the shut-off is too far away, it needs to be moved before install day, because that's plumbing, not installation.
- Door spring not set. A heavy wood panel with factory spring tension means the door falls open. This adjustment is the most-missed step on Miele.
- Toe kick too tall. Some fully integrated models need a lower or deeper toe kick than standard cabinets have, so check the template before ordering cabinets.
- Water hardness left at default. Hamilton and most of Halton have moderately hard water. Setting it properly is free and prevents film on glasses.
What's not included
We install appliances into spaces and connections that already exist. We don't do rough-in, new plumbing or gas lines, new circuits, or cabinet and renovation work. If your space needs that first, have it done before install day and we'll take it from there.

Can the Miele water hose be extended?
No. The WPS inlet hose is a fixed safety hose. The shut-off has to be within its reach, so if it isn't, have it moved before install day.
