Fisher & Paykel and Café Pro Gas Range Hookup

Pro-style ranges like the Fisher & Paykel 30 and 36 in. dual-fuel and gas models, and Café's commercial-style ranges, are heavy, low to the floor, and set flush with your counters. The hookup itself is straightforward when there's an existing gas shut-off in the right place. The details that matter are getting the range in without scratching the floors or cabinets, connecting a new flex line without kinking it behind the unit, the anti-tip bracket, and confirming the burners light cleanly with the right flame.

Service Starts around
Gas range hookup and install $275
Haul-away of the old range $70

Most standard installs start around this price. Your final quote depends on access, haul-away and what's already in place, and we confirm it before booking.

What to have ready before we arrive

  • An existing gas shut-off valve behind or beside the range space, in the zone shown in the installation guide
  • An existing 120 V outlet (gas) or an existing 240 V range outlet (dual-fuel), in the right zone
  • The range's installation guide, which lists the opening width and any island trim or backguard needed
  • For propane: tell us before booking. The range has to be converted with the LP kit that comes with it
  • A clear delivery path. Pro ranges can be 250+ lb

How we install it

  1. Check the space. We confirm the opening width, counter height and shut-off location, and that the backguard or island trim matches your setup.
  2. Remove the old range. Shut off, disconnect, cap if needed, and haul away for $70.
  3. Anti-tip bracket. The bracket is secured to the floor or wall so the rear leg locks in. It isn't optional on a range.
  4. Connect gas. A new flex connector goes from the existing shut-off to the range regulator, with approved sealant on the threads.
  5. Leak test and light. Every joint is checked with a leak-detection solution. Then we light every burner and the oven, and check the flame colour and simmer.
  6. Set and level. The range is pushed back without kinking the connector, levelled flush with the counters, and checked for an even oven door.

Common problems we see

  • Shut-off behind a cabinet or in the wrong zone. If the range can't push back flush, moving the gas line is a gas fitter's job before install day.
  • Reusing the old connector. Flex connectors are single-use. We always fit a new one.
  • Missing backguard. Many pro ranges need a low backguard or island trim to meet clearances to the wall.
  • Propane not converted. Natural gas orifices on propane cause tall yellow flames and soot.
  • Range hood mismatched. A 36 in. pro range under a 30 in. hood can't keep up. Check the hood width before buying.

Gas connections are completed by TSSA-certified gas technicians.

What's not included

We install appliances into spaces and connections that already exist. We don't do rough-in, new plumbing or gas lines, new circuits, or cabinet and renovation work. If your space needs that first, have it done before install day and we'll take it from there.
